The Latest News from the Pack at Blue Dog Bakery

"On April 25th we were honored to be invited back to be a part of the tenth year celebration of the Bark in the Park Top Dog Festival located in the scenic countryside of Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville, North Carolina.  It was an absolute delight to see some familiar furry faces and their owners that we befriended during last year’s festival.  We also enjoyed the opportunity to meet a number of young, energetic hopefuls just as eager to show off their skills in various competitions offered throughout the day.

No dog was left out with so many competitions to choose from!  Whether they were top dog at long jumping, obstacle courses or a pro at catching a Frisbee, winners were found in abundance.  There were also competitions for smallest, tallest, largest and of course cutest dog!  Let’s not forget “Best in Costume” and everyone’s favorite, “Owner Look-A-Like!”   The owners also got to be involved in the agility competitions where they completed obstacle courses together which offered the opportunity to show how well they work as a team with their pet and how much fun they have while bonding and exercising.  Our young dog owners also got a chance to shine as they walked across the main stage with their dogs in “Best Trick” competition.

Later in the afternoon was a fun contest of “Toss and Catch” sponsored by Blue Dog Bakery and we couldn’t be more proud that the winner was one of our loyal Peanut Butter & Molasses treat loving fans, a pug named Bernard!  Now we all know what gave that lil’ guy the extra energy to take home the win!

The dog that took home the main title win of “Top Dog 2015” was a beautiful Dalmatian named Godiva.  While everyone was taking pictures of Godiva and her owner in the winner’s circle we got a chance to introduce ourselves.  Her owner was quick to announce that she was already very familiar with Blue Dog Bakery as we are Godiva’s favorite and only treat provider!  Godiva and her family made a point to come by our booth before leaving for the day and we were super excited to have the star attraction make time for us and for her owners to praise our product!

With all of the excitement and fun filled moments, nothing compared to the time we got to spend with each of our furry friends as they and their families visited our booth.  We loved hearing stories of how since trying Blue Dog Bakery treats, these dogs were not willing to settle for any other brand and were dedicated to our product because of the great taste and quality ingredients.  It’s such a wonderful feeling to get a big hug from an owner and a sincere thank you for caring for the health and wellbeing of their dog as much as they do."

"Well, another great year has come for The Mighty Texas Dog Walk in Austin and who was there to help spread the word that healthy dogs are happy dogs? None other than Blue Dog Bakery! Though the early morning was quite challenging due to the wind, that didn't stop the local Austinites from coming out with their dogs to show love and support for pooches of all types. If you've never been to Austin, TX come out and see it y'all!  Oh, and bring your dog!! This extremely dog friendly city has such beautiful greenery and parks to enjoy much like at the Auditorium Shores near Ladybird Lake where this year's event was held.

This year there were two dog shows held where instructors were doing Frisbee tricks with the animals and also giving tips on how to turn your doggie into a Frisbee master. Blue Dog Bakery was a big hit as always! We passed out treat samples, coupons and all sorts of gifts to our dog loving Texans. It seemed as if almost every customer who has a dog and has tried a Blue Dog Bakery product loves them! As for some of this year's new comers who haven't heard of Blue Dog, they loved that the treats are all natural and look forward to their pets trying the samples we gave them. The greatest compliment of all is hearing how much the dogs eat them and which are their favorites. Since there are so many varieties, from crunchy to soft and small to large... we get to hear so many different favorites from different owners. The newly launched Deli Sticks were a hit as well! Austinites love their healthy, vegetarian options, but the new beef treats were a pleasant surprise to many of the customers who stopped by the booth.

As much as we love to know the mutts had a great day at the park, it was great fun for the people as well! We broke a Guinness record for heaviest ball of fur which hadn’t happened for a few years, and were able to groom hundreds of dogs in the process. They also had music playing, raffles and other prize giveaways along with gifts galore from local businesses and shelters. Austin does a great job promoting pet health and Blue Dog Bakery is proud to help right alongside with them. Each year seems to be more unique and special and we always will look forward to The Mighty Texas Dog Walk in Austin as well as other events like these across the nation."

Ho! Ho! Ho! Happy Howlidays, everyone!

We're wrapping up yet another great year here at Blue Dog Bakery and want to do something extra special for our biggest supporters…. our dogs, of course! Sure, they get treated the whole year 'round (they do hang out at a dog treat company all week long), but they're like children to us and we think they deserve to partake in the holiday fun! Just like children, their excitement sure does show when they see wrapping paper to tear into. And unlike children, the wig-wagging of the tail tells us just how happy they are!
Here are a few stocking stuffer ideas we have for our beloved fur babies this year!
Santa Paws:
Okay, this one is obvious. It's our seasonal gingerbread flavored dog treat and the pups sure love them! They get the occasional Santa Paw here and there, but now we plan on giving them their own special bag all for themselves!!

Chew Toys:
We have some dogs here who love the rope chew toys, some love the ones with little squeakers inside, some love tennis balls, and some are happy just chewing on their leashes. Regardless of their favorite object to gnaw on, they will all be getting fresh toys! We can see (and hear) the excitement now!
New Leashes:
A lot of wear and tear happens to a leash within a year so Christmas is the perfect time to start over with a new one. Our dogs love a new leash, but perhaps the biggest gift is letting them go leash-free for a few days at the end of the year (indoors only). Can you imagine the freedom they must feel?!
There you have it! A fool-proof list of goodies to stuff in your dogs' stockings this year. Treats, toys, leashes. Where can you possibly go wrong??
