We are halfway through fall and almost at the end of the year!  Time has flown by and November is a great time to reflect and be grateful. What are you and your pups most thankful for this November?

Here at Blue Dog Bakery we are, of course, thankful for our dogs and we want to keep them safe. That's why this month we're giving everyone some tips on what Thanksgiving scraps you should NOT feed your dog. We are also updating you on Pet Treat Pantry.  If you're still not familiar with this awesome program then visit the website www.bluedogbakery.com/pettreatpantry.

Think Before You Treat

Every year at Thanksgiving vets get a surge in pets coming in for gastrointestinal issues. So when your pooch comes begging this holiday season try and remember these things:

  • Take out the trash immediately to avoid your dog getting into it later.
  • No table scraps or leftovers, especially bones. Soft bones, like those in poultry, can splinter and cause obstructions in your pet's digestive system.
  • Remember that raw or undercooked turkey can harbor salmonella, which can cause the same disastrous gastrointestinal effects in our pets as it does in us.
  • Onions and garlic have a supporting role in stuffing and other side dishes, but can be dangerous when ingested by our pets.
