Blue Dog Bakery Dives Further into Pet Specialty Retail With SuperZoo 2014 Attendance

SEATTLE, WA – June 3, 2014Blue Dog Bakery officially announced it’s first ever exhibitor attendance at SuperZoo, which is being held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas July 22 through July 24. SuperZoo, a non-profit pet trade showpresented by the World Pet Association, introduces new products, campaigns, and services to the pet retail industry. With the pet industry on the rise, this year’s SuperZoo event is expected to attract more attendees and exhibitors than ever, creating a wide opportunity for brands to showcase their products to potential customers and retailers.

Blue Dog Bakery all natural, healthy treats for dogs have been widely available in mass-market grocery and club stores for nearly 17 years. Since it’s conception in 1998 the company’s reach has grown exponentially each year with plans to continue this growth trend by expanding into an entirely new market. The company will introduce its entire line of all natural dog treats to independent pet specialty retailers during its attendance at SuperZoo this July.

In February 2014, Blue Dog Bakery launched an all-new online wholesale shop making its products available for pet shop, feed store, and other independent specialty shop owners to purchase at a wholesale price. “Launching the online wholesale shop was the next logical step for us to grow with smaller, independent specialty stores,” says Lara Thompson-Kravik, Associate Brand Manager for Blue Dog Bakery. “We have been working toward making our healthy treats more readily available for purchase at smaller minimums, and the online shop allows us to do just that.”

With over 10,000 pet industry professionals attending SuperZoo, Blue Dog Bakery will utilize the trade show as an opportunity to spread the word about their USA made treats while educating small and/or independently owned stores on the differences between their grocery and pet specialty itemsand how they can purchase through the new online wholesale shop.

2.5 tons of dog treats brought joy to the lives of dogs and their families in 2012

SEATTLE, WA – September 30, 2013 – Today Blue Dog Bakery launched year two of Pet Treat Pantry, a partnership between the Seattle-based all natural dog treat company and select food banks in Washington, Oregon, Arizona, North Carolina and New Jersey.  The partnership provides healthy treats to the canine friends of food bank clients.

One in six American families receives assistance from their local food bank, and when finances are tight healthy dog treats are not a priority. Last year, Blue Dog Bakery saw an opportunity to expand their donation program by introducing Pet Treat Pantry.  Pet Treat Pantry invites consumers to purchase a specially marked box of Blue Dog Bakery dog treats and register their donation online using the code found on the box. Blue Dog Bakery is very excited to launch the second year of what they hope to be an annual program.

Over the past five years Blue Dog Bakery has donated dog treats to more than 800 organizations, events and fundraisers dedicated to helping dogs all over the country with their “Say Yes” policy. The Pet Treat Pantry builds on the company’s long-standing tradition of community giving and engagement.

"Developing and launching Pet Treat Pantry in 2012 was hugely rewarding for Blue Dog Bakery,” said Kyle Polanski, CEO of Blue Dog Bakery. “With the help of consumers, we were able to donate over 2.5 tons of healthy dog treats to our food bank partners. We are excited to continue the program, and are hoping we can top last year’s donation total!”

To kick off the 2013 Pet Treat Pantry, Blue Dog Bakery has already donated 3,768 pounds of Blue Dog Bakery treats to five participating food banks across the country. Over the next four months, shoppers and dog-lovers have the opportunity to help donate 20,000 more boxes – because when you buy a box, you give a box.

Company celebrates most successful year with 30% growth

SEATTLE - October 30, 2012Blue Dog Bakery, America’s top selling natural dog treat brand, introduces select items from its line of healthy dog treats to the international canine community as they celebrate new distribution in Canada.

Since the Seatttle-based company’s launch in 1998, Blue Dog Bakery has experienced tremendous growth within the U.S. market.  Over the past 10 months, grocery sales of Blue Dog Bakery treats have increased by 30%, making it the most successful year of sales in its 14 year history.

As of September 2012, Blue Dog Bakery’s treats have gone international. Dog owners can now purchase Blue Dog Bakery’s top selling dog treats at Walmart locations across Canada.  The company also hopes to expand Canadian distribution to additional retailers including, Target Canada and Canadian Tire, among other pet specialty stores.

This major milestone in Blue Dog Bakery’s history comes during a record setting year in which the company also released new packaging across its entire product line.

“We have had a tremendous year and expanding our distribution into Canada is a very exciting opportunity for us,” said Kyle Polanski, CEO of Blue Dog Bakery. “For years we have received requests for Blue Dog Bakery treats from Canadian consumers and we are thrilled to finally be able to meet that demand.”

Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Blue Dog Bakery emerged as the first all-natural dog treat brand sold in major grocery retailers in the U.S. and has become a favorite of dogs and their owners.  Blue Dog Bakery’s philosophy has always been “why feed our dogs something that we wouldn’t eat ourselves?” With that guiding principal, each and every treat Blue Dog Bakery brings to the market, whether in Canada or in the United States, contains no animal by-products, no artificial flavors or colors, and no artificial preservatives.

To prepare for the shipments to Canada, Blue Dog Bakery implemented bi-lingual English and French packaging for all Canadian retailers and made an appearance in September at the country’s largest pet industry event, the PIJAC Trade Show in Toronto.

“We are very fortunate to have Walmart Canada as a partner in this expansion,” said Eric Koppelman, VP of Sales and Marketing for Blue Dog Bakery. “The initial reception of Blue Dog Bakery in Canada has been nothing but warm. We’re looking forward to building on Blue Dog Bakery’s success to make an impression in this new market and above all else see more happy and healthy dogs.”

As of September 2012 consumers can purchase Blue Dog Bakery’s More Flavors (20 oz.), Doggie Paws (10 oz.), Softies (10 oz.) and Perfect Trainers (6 oz.) at Walmart, Target and Loblaw’s locations throughout Canada.

Donated dog treats bring joy to the lives of dogs and their families

SEATTLE, WA – September 18, 2012 – Today Blue Dog Bakery announced the launch of Pet Treat Pantry, a partnership between the Seattle-based all natural dog treat company, and select food banks in Washington, Oregon, Arizona, North Carolina and New Jersey.  The partnership will provide healthy treats to the four-legged friends of food bank clients who often go unrecognized as close knit and important members of these families.

One in six American families now receives assistance from their local food bank, and when finances are tight healthy dog treats are not a priority. Blue Dog Bakery saw an opportunity to expand their current donation program by introducing Pet Treat Pantry. Through December 2012, consumers who purchase a specially marked box of Blue Dog Bakery treats can help fill the pantries of food banks with healthy dog treats, so families can leave with food for themselves and a little something extra for their dog.

Blue Dog Bakery’s Pet Treat Pantry builds on the company’s long-standing tradition of community giving and engagement, which has included dog-related organizations, events and fundraisers all over the country.  From the American Kennel Club to the Pug Rescue of Florida, Blue Dog Bakery has donated dog treats to more than 800 organizations dedicated to helping dogs everywhere.

"For the past 14 years Blue Dog Bakery has made giving back to the dog community an important aspect of our business,” said Kyle Polanski, CEO of Blue Dog Bakery. “Our Pet Treat Pantry program was designed to take these community donations one step further.”

To kick off Pet Treat Pantry, Blue Dog Bakery donated 4,572 boxes of Blue Dog Bakery treats to five participating food banks across the country. Over the next three months, shoppers and dog-lovers have the opportunity to help donate 100,000 more boxes because when you buy a box, you give a box.

Those who purchase a specially marked box of Blue Dog Bakery treats are encouraged to visit www.bluedogbakery.com where they can enter the registration code found on the box and select one of five participating food banks to direct their donation. For each code registered, Blue Dog Bakery will send one box of treats to the selected food bank. Participating Pet Treat Pantry food banks include:

·         ·     Empty Bowl Pet Food Pantry – Phoenix, Arizona

·         ·     Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina – Charlotte, North Carolina

·         ·     The Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties – Neptune, New Jersey

“Food banks ease the hunger of those in need, but we seldom think about the pets that live with them,” said Sam Osborne, Executive Director of the Rainer Valley Food Bank in Seattle. “Hunger is an issue that touches the lives of dogs just as much as their owners. Our pets are our families in every sense of the word, and are often one of the most important things getting these individuals through tough times. For a dog, treats say ’I love you’ and to be able to provide healthy treats for our families with pets is something truly special.”

Blue Dog Bakery already has plans to build on its inaugural Pet Treat Pantry program and expand in 2013 to benefit even more food banks.

"We believe that every dog deserves a treat and hope that our Pet Treat Pantry program will bring more smiles and tail wags to both families and their dogs,” said Polanski.  “We couldn't be more excited about the launch of our program. We are looking forward to a successful first year and many more ahead."

Specially marked boxes of Blue Dog Bakery treats can be found at national grocery retailers including Safeway, Kroger, Fred Meyer, Hannaford, Food Lion and more.
