Thank you for all the emails we received last month, especially regarding our story about Lucky. Thought you would enjoy this.

“Enjoyed the story of "Lucky" & Mary from your June newsletter. It reminded me of 1995, when Hurricane Erin was headed towards Central Florida. I had adopted Simba (Saluki/Greyhound mix) only a few months before the Hurricane hit & decided not to evacuate.

As the winds increased and Erin was a catagory 4, I started carrying all my important documents, photos, jewelry, etc downstairs, and placed them on a dining room chair, just incase of flooding or broken windows. By the time I had all my "important stuff" together, Simba had gathered up all her toys, bones & ball & placed them next to my things! It was as if she knew, if we were evacuating, she's taking her important stuff, too!

Fortunately, only the power went off and there was no damage to our home & we never did evacuate. I've been through 4 Hurricanes with Simba & she is quite a pro now at gathering up her things!”
