Wow – we have had tons of calls and emails from non-profit animal welfare groups and we are thrilled to be able to help each and every one of them. We will soon be updating our website and these organizations will be able to post their events on our site!. We will keep you posted on when and how that will take place. • In 4000 BC the greyhound, which can move at up to 41.7 miles per hour, existed in ancient Egypt.
• In 1200 BC when Odysseus came from after 20 years, only his aged dog, Argos, recognized him. After wagging his tail, Argos died.
• There are 65 million dogs in the US!
• Nearly half of the US pet owners consider their pets as family members. In 1983 their pets’ vet costs were on average $67 a year. In 2001 that cost had risen to $257 a year.
• 73% of US pet owners would go into debt in order to provide for their pets’ well-being.
• Imagining themselves on a desert island and limited to only one companion, 50% of Americans say they’d pick a dog or a cat, whereas 47% say they’d pick a human!
• 63% of US dog owners admit to kissing their dogs.
• 33% of US dog owners admit that while they are away, they talk to their dogs on the phone or leave them messages on an answering machine.
• 47% of US pet owners turn on a television or radio to keep their pets company when leaving them home alone.
